Beyond the Books Education (LLC) is a Private homeschool group for members only, located in Manalapan, New Jersey serving children ages Pre-K through fourth grade. With our world constantly changing, many families want to homeschool their children but are unable to do so for a variety of reasons. Beyond the Books is an alternative option that can provide families with peace of mind, knowing their little ones are in a safe, nurturing  environment that promotes their academic, social and emotional development. Beyond the Books provides your child with a flexibly rigorous, but individualized, educational program that is also one of the most affordable.

Beyond the Books is a private organization that firmly believes in educating the whole child. We believe that it is not our job to solely educate our students academically, but to help them develop socially and emotionally as well. We strive to guide them on a path to becoming good, kind, helpful, empathetic members of society. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Intelligence plus character. That is the goal of true education."

We believe that God made each child unique; therefore, each child learns differently, and it is by using these differences to educate our students that we are able to help them reach their full potential. Benjamin Franklin was wise in saying, "Tell me and I will forget. Teach me and I will remember, Involve me and I will learn." Our program uses a complete multi sensory method of teaching. Students are kinesthetically involved in all aspects of their learning from pre-k through fourth grade, which is why their learning is so profound.

We do not believe in the one size fits all organization of the public school where a first grader must remain in a first grade program. Children have varying strengths, abilities and weaknesses in which they want to improve on. At Beyond the Books, children in full day programs will be placed with their age appropriate grade level for certain whole group instruction, but will be placed into reading and math classes based on their individual level of learning.  We use highly rated and researched standard based curriculum that is modified to support students' understanding. They will move through curriculum at various paces, slower when they need extra support, and faster when they have a firm understanding. Our classes are designed to provide your child with the nurturing they need to build their character, independence, confidence, and self-esteem, ensuring they develop the strong foundation they need to be successful in all aspects of life.

At Beyond the Books, we provide your child a learning environment where they can attend in person without any unwanted and/or unnecessary interference. Given all that is going on in our world, and the state of our public and even some private Schools, we have opted to homeschool in a way that works for us, so that we remain free to make our own choices, choose our own curriculum, and maintain our vision educating our students "Beyond the Books."

**Please note - Our program is open to MEMBERS ONLY. Please go to the FAQS to find out how to become a member.

Reviews

Both of my children have been attending Beyond the Books for the past two years now. My son is 5, my daughter is 9 and she is also special needs. My two children have thrived in the small, caring atmosphere of this school. This school is dedicated to excellent academics, and beyond this the teachers and administrators nurture the children, teaching and modeling respect, kindness, teamwork and so much more. The classes are small, and the students learn to support each other. It allows students to discover the world around them and develop a healthy love of learning.  We are also very grateful for the courage that these teachers have had, to create a program for themselves and parents like myself who have made the decision to pull our children from public school. We feel so lucky that we found Beyond the Books and that we can be part of this community. - Jessica

Beyond the Books is absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a place where the teachers love your child and treat them like their own, this is the place to be.  My daughter is always excited to go to school and she enjoys learning. She is currently in 1st grade and joined last year in kindergarten. Nicole, the director of the program, is wonderful and so good with all the children. There is so much parent involvement, check-ins, field trips, and hands-on learning. They include cooking, yoga, science, life skills and the kids absolutely love it. Highly recommend Beyond the Books.  - Eleni K.

I want to say thank you for the opportunity to send my daughter to Beyond the Books instead of a public school. We love the individual attention she gets and how she is making a lot of progress. All the teachers are kind, attentive and take great care to understand the individual needs of each student. We appreciate the specials like gymnastics, sewing and various science experiments. We love that you manage to teach the kids and also have ample time for recess. Its a great group of kids and a wonderful community of like minded parents. Lastly, but probably most important is that my daughter is happy going to school! - Faina

Our Latest News- February and March

For special this month, we had Vets in Training and yoga! Students learned about various animals, their habitats, food, how to give a check up, radiology, how to remove ticks and of course interacted with some adorable animals all in a completely hands on manner!

So much to celebrate these past months! Our students celebrated Read Across America day with games, a read-a-thon, arts and crafts and a green eggs and ham breakfast.

They enjoyed their 100s day by creating projects with 100 things, doing 100 activities and even our older students had a write 100 words competition!

For Saint Patrick's Day, our students each created their own Leprechaun trap to try and catch the sneaky Leprechauns. They made a huge mess of our room and escaped our traps!

As an Easter/Spring celebration, our students painted eggs using tissue paper, went on an egg hunt around the entire building and had a make your own pancake breakfast!

So many other fantastic things happened over the last few months! Our students created spring pictures using salt and paint, we did science experiments and our students had life skills and learned to fold their laundry, clean, write letters and read nutritional information!

We also had gymnastics and had a few sessions with SkyHawks! Our older classes worked on engineering and ramps and we had tons of beautiful picnics outside!
